Funding
The Impact Amplifier Foundation was formed to specifically focus on funding social innovators in Africa and develop ecosystem solutions to the challenges confronting the continent. The public sector, charities and now social enterprises make up a tapestry of support for many social and environment issues in Africa. Although increasing in activity, the funding for and scale of the solutions to healthcare, housing, food security, job creation, energy and water access, climate adaptation and mitigation are grossly inadequate in relation to the size of the problems.
The Foundation does not have the ambition to resource all these challenges, but instead focuses on developing ecosystem solutions that can be a catalyst for increasing activity, support and coordination. The vast majority of social and environmental solutions being implemented in Africa are not done in collaboration, coordinated, nor within a clear framework and understanding of what is needed and who is already implementing solutions. As such, the existing resources allocated in a given sector or geography are often inefficiently being applied or wasted.
Because of Impact Amplifier extensive work with social innovators, impact investor, donors and the public sector it is uniquely suited to develop ecosystem solutions and models for others to utilize. The Foundation is both a donor and a doer, implementing some solutions internally and financially supporting other innovators to build ecosystems that work.
All donations from the Foundation are done via calls for applications. Please see the open calls page for current opportunities.
