The Private Financing Advisory Network (PFAN) is a global network of climate and clean energy financing experts, which offers free business coaching and investment facilitation to entrepreneurs developing climate and clean energy projects in emerging markets. PFAN’s goals are to build clean energy markets one business at a time, mitigate climate change and mobilise private investment in support of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change and the Sustainable Development Goals.
ADEME launched a call for projects to support companies and NGOs that develop and implement innovative solutions to improve access to off-grid energy in Sub-Saharan Africa. A series of projects were selected by ADEME for PFAN to provide support to the companies and NGOs that have won this call for projects, in facilitating investment, their scaling up and the evaluation of their impacts.
Impact Amplifier was appointed by PFAN to develop and propose individual methodologies for assessing the social and climate impacts of these projects and further working with the projects to implement the methodologies developed, which will be used to measure the impact over a period of time.
IA supported the development of impact frameworks (Theory of Change, impact metrics defined and tools for baseline and impact data collection) - for eight renewable energy for low-income communities businesses in Sub-Saharan Africa. Of these eight, four projects progressed to the impact assessment phase where baseline and impact data was collected in collaboration with the project developers, these reports were finalised and the project closed in August 2023.
