Established in 2009 to address South Africa’s food insecurity, FoodForward SA is the largest food banking network on the continent. They recover quality surplus food from farms and retail supply chains, and distribute it to community organisations that serve those in need.
The organisation has grown exponentially since its inception, and most recently expanded by an additional 300% since the Covid-19 pandemic hit. With a footprint that currently spans all nine South African provinces, FoodForward SA provides food to 1,700 organisations that provide over 48 million meals per annum. But how much, in monetary value, are they leveraging the social ecosystem?
Impact Amplifier has completed its second analysis of FoodForward SA’s Social Return on Investment to better understand the social and economic value it leverages through its food donations.
